MEET the team

Christine Thompson
Head of Department for Preparation for Life and Work. This encompasses a broad range of provision including: Foundation Learning for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Adult Skills for Life (Functional English and Maths), Education and training including Classroom Support Assistants, Initial Teacher Training and Higher Education.
This encompasses 16 - 18 provision as well as Adult learning, Apprenticeships and full time and part time courses.

Doug Hallam
Doug is responsible for the students on the Foundation Degree in Education and Care, teaching on the 1st and 2nd year of the course, he also looks after the Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work. Doug works P/T with us at TyneMet and in the professional sector as a Youth Democracy Coordinator with the British Youth Council in the North East.

Fiona Lawrence
Fiona is the Assistant Programme Leader and teaches on the PGCE/Cert Ed. Fiona is also course leader on the PTLLS and DTLLS programmes (Preparing to Teach/Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) as well as the Assessor and Verifier awards.

Jill Hamilton
Responsible for all learners on teaching assistant courses including apprentices. Teaching on Level 2 and Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and the Diploma in Specialist Support.

Steven Fletcher
Steven is course leader for the BA (hons) Education and Training course and also teaches on the PGCE, Cert Ed and Level 2 Teaching Assistant courses.
