As well as being the area’s first choice for brilliant courses, TyneMet gives back so much more to the community

TyneMet in the Community

The college understands the value of mutual respect and cooperation so making links with local people and businesses is a top priority.

We build these links in a range of different ways. Working on a project developed with the Prince’s Trust, some TyneMet students give up their time to assist North Tyneside’s elderly people in a number of ways. By painting fences, tending allotments and completing other small jobs, these students are making local people’s lives a little easier and building goodwill connections to the college.

Charity

Charity is important to TyneMet’s staff and students alike. The college’s primary charities are Children in Need and Comic Relief and a great deal of work is also dedicated to supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind. Students get involved in all sorts of stunts in aid of charity—from having their legs waxed to arranging bric-a-brac sales and tombolas—anything they can do to raise funds for these worthy causes.

Creating connections

Our students often use the skills they’ve acquired at the college to give something back for free. For example, a group of holistic therapy students recently decided to take their services out into the community. They visited businesses around North Tyneside to give relaxing back and shoulder massages to stressed out staff.

By getting out and about, meeting our neighbours and treating them well, TyneMet has established its reputation as a vital and respected part of community life.
