Shopping About
As far as possible, TyneMet prepares students for the real world. The college is home to a number of functioning businesses serving the local community and giving specific groups of students invaluable work experience. That’s good news for them and great news for everyone else because it means discounted prices on expert services and quality goods.
Flourish
TyneMet’s onsite florist is run by staff and students. Flourish sells beautiful individual bouquets and creates displays for weddings, funerals and other large events. The Flourish team take part in flower festivals, attend professional shows and really keep up to date with the latest floristry trends and techniques.
Their work is of such a high standard that the shop has become the florist of choice for North Tyneside Council’s Chairman’s Office. This prestigious customer commissions impressive displays throughout the year. The shop is a vital part of college life and often holds workshops and demonstrations for people with an interest in joining a floristry course or just having a go.
Segedunum Restaurant
Students are always looking for money saving ideas and TyneMet’s Segedunum Restaurant may just be the best one yet. For just £6.95 this student-run restaurant serves up incredible three course lunches.
Segedunum’s kitchens are so professional that each year they are the North East venue for the national School Chef of the Year competition. Matching the first-rate equipment are the people using it. The restaurant’s student staff pride themselves on creating an authentic luxury dining experience.
On Thursday evenings in term time Segedunum welcomes diners to sample its delicious food. The prices are fixed and customers select their food from a table d’hôte menu that consistently offers great choice and high-quality. Once a month, themed nights are held to celebrate the cuisine of Mexico, France, Italy or other countries.
Our Coffee Shop is open to the general public from 10.00am till 1.30pm serving coffee, scones ect.
The restaurant is open Tuesday to Friday for lunch and a Thursday evening for dinner.
