By Bus

Local bus routes 300, 305, 306, 308, 44, X38, X16, 304, 340, 341, 337 and 339 stop outside the Coast Road Campus. If you come from outside the region you can travel to Newcastle using National Express coaches.

By Metro/Rail

The Metro rail system has a station in Wallsend. The route is direct via Monument. From Wallsend Metro Station you can get the following connecting buses to the Coast Road campus: 304, 340, 341, 337, 339. If you are travelling on the national rail network you should arrive at Newcastle Central station and take a Metro to Wallsend from there.

Alternatively, you can take the following buses from Newcastle city centre direct to the Coast Road campus: 300, 305, 306, 308, 44, X38 and X16.

By Road (from Newcastle upon Tyne)

• Go north from the Tyne Bridge on the A167(M).
• At the junction with the A1058 follow Tynemouth/Coast Road.
• Follow the A1058 and you will pass a petrol station on your left hand side, at the next turn off the Coast Road Campus is sign posted and you will see the campus on your left.
• Take the first left from the roundabout (not the slip-road) and the next left from the second roundabout and follow the road (Battle Hill Drive). The visitor car park is situated on your left hand side (third left from the roundabout) straight ahead. Reception is located next to the visitors’ car park.

By Road (from the Tyne Tunnel)

• After exiting the Tyne Tunnel toll booths, take the first left at the roundabout, up the A19.
• Follow the A19 until you get to the next roundabout (Silverlink), where you should take the first exit (A1058 Coast Road).
• Stay on the slip road (do not join the A1058) and follow it down, at the bottom there is a roundabout.
• At the bottom of the slip-road there is a roundabout.
• Students: take the third exit, following Embleton Ave to the student car park.
• Visitors and staff: take the fourth exit, at the next roundabout take the first exit, following Battle Hill Drive until you see the sign for the college (third road on the left).

Directions

By Bus:

Local bus routes 306, 317 and 442 stop outside the Academy Campus. If you come from outside the region you can travel to North Shields using National Express coaches.

By Metro/Rail

The Metro rail system has a station in North Shields. The route is direct via Monument. If you are travelling on the national rail network you should arrive at Newcastle Central station and take a Metro to North Shields from there.

By Road (from Newcastle upon Tyne):

• Go North from the Tyne Bridge on the A167(M).
• At the junction with the A1058 follow Tynemouth/Coast Road.
• You will pass the Coast Road campus on your left hand side but you should continue along the A1058.
• At the Billy Mill roundabout take the third exit (North Shields A1108).
• Turn left at the roundabout 200 metres ahead.
• The Academy Campus is 400 metres ahead at the junction of Hawkeys Lane and Queen Alexandra Road West.
• Turn right at the traffic lights and the main reception is on Hawkeys Lane on your right hand side.
